CG Financial Services, a hybrid registered investment advisor with $11 billion in assets under advisement and $4 billion in AUM, has hired Eugene “Gino” DeRango as director of CG Advisor Network, a unit of CG Financial.
DeRango joins from Axos Advisor Services, where he served as senior vice president and national sales manager since 2022. Prior to that, he was a vice president for Goldman Sachs’ RIA Custody group. He also spent almost 17 years with TD Ameritrade Institutional, before the firm was acquired by Schwab.
CG Financial was founded in 1999 by CEO Anthony J. Mazzali and a group of captive advisors in Haslett, Mich. The founders realized that many independent advisors were looking for help running their practices, so they built CG Advisor Network, a platform and back-office support system to help advisors transition from large firms. In 2023, the firm moved to LPL Financial for custody and brokerage services.
The unit now has about $4 billion in AUM across 69 advisors. DeRango will be responsible for growing the platform.
Separately, CG Financial has added Milene Plisko as managing director of insurance operations. She joins from Farmers Insurance, where she served as a district manager. In the new role, she’ll focus on strengthening operational systems within the insurance division and integrating those operations with its broader wealth management platform.
In a statement, the firm said the management additions were part of an effort to continue to avoid private equity funding; CG is currently management-owned, according to Form ADV filings.
