Looking for a warm drink or a unique gift idea? This homemade Cappuccino Mix recipe may be perfect! It only takes a few ingredients and a few minutes to put this mix together, and you have a great gift for a gift basket, a stocking stuffer, or a perfect little gift tied with a pretty ribbon!

    Homemade Cappuccino Mix

As the weather starts to cool off, I love to have something warm to sip on in the mornings. This Homemade Cappuccino Mix Recipe is delicious and easy to make. The mild coffee flavor makes it perfect for coffee drinkers and non-coffee drinkers alike. Just add a few scoops of mix to a cup and warm it up for the perfect start to your day!

We’ve made this homemade cappuccino powder mix two different ways, first, as an instant mix recipe using instant coffee. For that recipe, you can stir some of the mix right into a warm mug of water. You can also use regular ground coffee instead of instant coffee, which makes a perfect filler for those reusable K-Cups!

I didn’t even know what those were until I bought a good coffee maker for my hubby for his birthday (he’s the real coffee drinker on our little farm!), and those K-Cups are expensive! So we bought the reusable cups from Amazon, and when he wants some brewed cappuccino, he fills it with the mix you will find below.

    Ingredients in Homemade Cappuccino Mix

    • 1/2 cup Instant Coffee
    • 1 cup Sugar (can be regular, raw, coconut, etc)
    • 1 1/4 cups Powdered Milk (or Powdered Coconut Milk for dairy-free)
    • 1/2 teaspoon ground Nutmeg
    • 1/2 teaspoon ground Cinnamon

I just made a batch of this for myself and I made it with powdered coconut milk and it’s just wonderful!!! I love being able to control my ingredients. Organic fair trade freeze dried coffee, organic sugar and coconut milk powder and you can’t even taste the spices but you know they are there enhancing the flavor. Thank you so much for this I can’t wait to make some for some of my dairy free friends!!!

How to Make Cappuccino Dry Mix

In a large bowl, mix all ingredients until well blended. Pour into a mason jar or some pretty storage container. If given as a gift you can decorate with ribbon or another full festive garland.

If you are just keeping the mix for yourself, just make sure that you store it in an airtight container or jar so that it doesn’t lose its potency.

Tip: Make sure to label your jar! You can get some Free Printable Canning Jar Labels here.

To mix up your homemade Cappuccino Mix, add a few spoonfuls to a mug full of warm water. Stir until the mixture is dissolved. If using the non-instant ground coffee, add about 4 teaspoons into a reusable K-cup and brew as usual.

Hi Merissa, I love Cappuccino, this is a great recipe! I am addicted to the taste of Ginger, so I added 1/2 tsp. to your recipe along with the Nutmeg and Cinnamon. Oh it’s soooooo good! Thank you!

    Variations to the Cappuccino Recipe

Some variations of this recipe have been tried by other Little House Living readers. Here are their recommendations if you want to change it up a little.

    • Use a powdered coffee creamer instead of powdered milk. You can also use this if you want to change the flavor to a French Vanilla Cappuccino mix or something else like that.
    • Add a powdered vanilla or vanilla sugar to make this vanilla flavored.
    • Use instant espresso to give this an additional caffeine boost.
    • Add in a little hot chocolate mix to make this a Mocha Cappuccino.
    • If you have a milk frother, froth this drink once it’s hot for something extra fancy.
    • You can try making this recipe sugar-free by adding monkfruit or a different sweetener.

    Common Questions About Cappuccino

    Can you make instant cappuccino?

Yes. Use instant coffee in this recipe to make an instant cappuccino instead of one that needs to be brewed.

Is cappuccino mix the same as coffee?

Cappuccino mix has coffee in it but is not the same as coffee because it has other added ingredients.

Are you supposed to mix a cappuccino?

Yes, you will need to mix it in your hot water or milk until all of the ingredients have dissolved into the liquid; otherwise, you will have a gritty drink.

Very nice recipe and fun to make. Just enjoying one cup now . The taste is original and delicious.
    Thank you!
