    Thankful Thursday | kitty cats

    This week, I am thankful:

    for our cats

This is a kitty who got shut out of a bedroom for interrupting homework.

And this is a kitty who has a thick winter coat right now. Ok, and maybe some extra fat.

that I canceled/postponed my New Mexico trip

I feel glad for a few reasons.

First, the airport situation does indeed seem rather sketchy at the moment.

Secondly, I spent the entire day yesterday working on homework for the Worst BSN Class in the World. I would neverrrr have gotten it all done on time if I’d flown yesterday.

that I have no plans to fly for the holidays

For everyone else’s sakes, I hope flights are back to normal by Thanksgiving. But I am glad I don’t have any flights scheduled in the near future!

Flying around holidays is sort of a headache in the best of circumstances, so I can only imagine how stressful it might be this year.

that this class is halfway done

This is week four of eight, and I have all my week four assignments done. That means I have officially survived 50% of this unfortunate class.

I seriously was about to have a whole ‘nother crash out yesterday. In fact, I may need to do another complainy-pants post next week just to rant. 😉

that my group project-mates are like-minded

I’m working with two other students on our big group project, and thankfully, they are both on top of things and want to get stuff submitted early.

    Whew.

In general, my style is not the Submit At The Very Last Minute variety, and I’m grateful my group is on the same page with that.

Also, both other group members share my frustration with this class, and that means I have some people to commiserate with!

that I am in the midst of five straight days off

I have this chunk of time because I was supposed to be traveling. But now I am just home, and I am hoping to get lots of schoolwork and regular life work done before I go back to work again.

That will make me feel much, much better.

I might even be able to get several weeks’ worth of homework done, which would get me almost to the end of this class.

that I got out to see some fall colors last weekend

I did a 7-mile hike about an hour and a half away, and I’m so glad I made it there while the leaves are still lovely.

Also, please enjoy this moss close-up from the hike. We know I always have to stop to inspect the mosses. 😉

    for my little house

As I said in yesterday’s post…I love my little house. It is perfect for me in so many ways, and I am grateful to be here.

for a little more confidence at work

I have three weeks of solo nursing under my belt now, and I am getting more and more comfortable and confident.

If I feel this way after three weeks, imagine how much growth I will observe in myself after six weeks or twelve weeks!

And in a year, I will be miles more competent than I am now.

for coworkers who are willing to help me

Of course, I routinely run into things I don’t know how to do, just because I’ve never encountered them before. But luckily, there are a lot of helpful people who work on my unit, and they are willing to answer my questions and show me how to do things.

It’s not like I need to be shown the same skill a million times; it’s just our unit has such a wide variety of patients, there are a million things to learn for the first time!

that the RN to BSN life is temporary

I should be able to graduate next December (2026), which means I just have to hang in there for one more year of being extra busy.

By January of 2027, I should be done with school (woohoo!) and I also will have my feet solidly under me as a nurse.

So, in several ways, my life should feel a little easier in about a year.

I have been in school for so many years already. One more year? I can do that. The end is in sight.

    for a moody sunrise

I rolled out of bed yesterday and realized I had time to catch a sunrise. Except…the sky was awfully cloudy.

I took a chance anyway and drove to the trail that has a sunrise view, and it was still beautiful, despite the cloud cover.

What are you thankful for this week?
