It will take many millions of dollars to track and treat the increasing number of people who get the measles as the anti-vaccine movement continues to gain traction.
There have been 47 measles outbreaks in the U.S. this year, with 1,912 confirmed cases so far. That’s up from 285 cases in 2024 and the highest number of cases since 2000, when public-health officials announced that measles had been eliminated in the U.S.
